Why do you need a Chimney Sweep?

The primary job of the Chimney Sweep is to aid in the prevention of chimney fires and reduce the risk of dangerous fume emissions from blocked heating appliances, flues and chimneys and thereby maintaining the maximum efficiency of your appliance.​

The main purpose of a chimney is to vent smoke and combustion gases from your home.

Regular chimney sweeping, at least annually, removes the build up of soot, creosote and tar deposits from the flue.

A clean chimney is more efficient at heating your home and safer for your property and for your health.

For a chimney to work well it needs to a good flow of air. If this flow is blocked or restricted, the smoke and hazardous gases, including carbon monoxide, will not be efficiently removed. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that has no smell or taste. Breathing it in can make you unwell, and it can kill if you're exposed to high levels.

Having a clean chimney will also dramatically reduce your risk of a chimney fire. Chimney fires are caused by the combustion of residue deposits of soot or creosote, therefore in a clean chimney there will be no debris to catch fire.
